Istanbul is a city that never sleeps. It breathes, it vibrates, it lives — day and night. Every street hides a story, every sound carries a melody of the past blending seamlessly with the present. And amid this endless scene of life, the red tram of Istiklal glides quietly, as if narrating the soul of the City in its own language.

From Taksim Square to Tünel, it crosses Istiklal Avenue – the most vibrant pedestrian street in Istanbul. Between shop windows, street vendors, musicians, and countless footsteps from every corner of the world, the tram rolls steadily along the same rails that have been in use for more than a century.

Its route lasts only a few minutes, yet it feels like a small journey through time.
The sound of its bell, the screech of the wheels, the laughter of children chasing behind it — all bring back the charm of another era, when Istanbul was still affectionately called “The City.”

Inside, the wooden seats and metallic details preserve the elegance of a bygone time. For locals, it is something familiar and deeply beloved; for visitors, it is an experience that encapsulates the essence of Istanbul — the coexistence of past and present, of tradition and modern rhythm.

As the tram moves through Istiklal, the shop lights reflect on its windows, creating scenes straight out of an old movie. Melodies echo from street performers, the scent of roasted corn and chestnuts fills the air, and the unmistakable aroma of freshly baked simit wraps around you like a warm memory.
You simply let yourself go. You observe, you enjoy, you live.

Perhaps, in the end, the ride on the red tram is not just a journey — it’s a reminder that the most beautiful travel moments are the ones that take their time to unfold.

A short ride, yet full of life, sounds, and colors.
The red tram of Istiklal is the heartbeat that never stops pulsing in Istanbul — a city that never ceases to enchant.
